ABOUT US - WHAT WE DO

“Trail Tales Outdoors”; is an adventure travel and holiday outfit, based in New Delhi. An initiative of a few outdoor lovers, the organization strives to combine the best outdoor experiences and offer them packaged to adventure seekers from around the world. We firmly believe in the philosophy that every travel is an experience and in this journey of life all experiences are steps towards discovering ourselves. Our holiday adventures emphasize on this very fact as we set you out to discover new frontiers, stretch limitations and unlearn, undo yourself. Each odyssey we undertake is a salute to the indomitable human spirit and endeavor, as we surge on the road towards ascending altitudes and higher elevations. Welcome aboard, we're looking forward to share your tale. Though we like to maintain that every journey is an adventure and every adventure an experience, to make things a little easy we do at times like to differentiate between the offerings we make to our guests. Our geographical operational area includes Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal (March to October) and Rajasthan, Konkan Coast, Goa, Karnataka & Kerela (October to March) where we offer resonating travels which sparkle just as the trails which we explore. We encourage active explorations through uncharted interiors to let you wander freely, venturing into the great outdoors, enjoying close contact with native people and their customs, getting close up views of wildlife and feasting your eyes on the scenic vistas of the great mountain ranges, rivers, canyons, and deserts of our beautiful planet. We work hard to create adventures that have just the right mix of fun, learning, and challenge, that stimulate your curiosity about the world and leave you better for having ventured into it. Invariably you’ll come back a different person with a whole new perspective on life. We treat you like the rugged individual you are and also provide the benefits of group travel without the regimentation. We provide a more personal experience, and are always poised to take advantage of any serendipitous “happenings” that cross our path. We’ll be delighted to supply you with all the information and assistance you may need in planning your trip. To start one of the best adventures of your life, join us. Happy Trails, Dhananjay & Naysa

The joy we get out of the environs should be shared with all that makes the surroundings what they are - the plants, animals, 'local people’, everything! We should be able to reconcile the inner journey with the outer one. The phrase has been doing the rounds "Take nothing but memories ,leave nothing but footprints". Treading carefully we can do much for the world by understanding what we see, by caring about those we meet and acting responsibly with respect to different cultures and threatened environments. Our mission is our responsibility to share, explain and help preserve and conserve what we see with our inner conscience.

Safaris/ROAD TRIPS Our safaris offer you an authentic experience of the Himalayas in comfort and security, without being insulated from the natural world you came to explore. We emphasize active explorations, including walking trips and hikes from the base camp. Most of our safari tours are customized to generate maximum from the journey and explore the many facets of your numerous safari destinations. We generally travel in rugged “go anywhere” vehicles that allow us to roam the countryside in total freedom. Motorcycle riding Cruise along the Himalayan Highways in style, ride into new horizons where the rivers run free and the moon outshines all the other lights. A typical motorcycle journey would involve a bike of your choice (Indian Made – 125cc – 500cc), support vehicle with the mechanic and spares. You would camp where there is no other option available and enjoy a country inn stay where a nice shower would liven you up. At certain destinations day rides are also possible. Our motorcycle journeys may at times remind you of the timeless Steppenwolf classic “Born to be wild” however we insist it sure is the Zen and the art of motorcycle riding. Mountain Cycling Mountain Biking is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while exercising and having a whole lot of fun. Gear yourself for high adventure with a journey on cycles. You may pedal your way through high passes or simply make a day adventure through some of the best mountain biking terrain in the world. Outfitting for these mountain biking trips includes guides, meals, and vehicle support for gear and food (bicycle rental available). Our focus continues to be on offering great single-track adventures, and remaining local: all our trips occur in our backyard, areas that we know intimately and have been riding for years. All of our staff and all of our suppliers are local, and we pride ourselves on our environmental and safety record. We've spent years and hundreds of hours exploring the areas we ride in, finding the best trails for our trips, and constantly working on improving and bringing you the best trip you can get. Footpaths – Trekking & Hiking The words “trekking” and “hiking” are used somewhat interchangeably, but a trek more often refers to a long distance walk along age-old trails, usually in remote areas far from roads or highways. And how many miles do we walk each day? That’s tough to say (especially in the mountains where there are a lot of ups and downs or we take it slowly because of high altitude). We usually characterize the hiking day in terms of hours. On most treks, we hike from four to six hours a day (with an occasional eight hour day). We start early, have a long lunch stop, and arrive at the next camp by mid afternoon, with time to rest and relax before dinner, explore nearby villages, read or write in your journals. During the day, there is ample time to stop and take photos, admire a view, search for an elusive bird. Above all we encourage you to walk at your own pace. You’re here to have fun! On most trips, porters, pack animals or vehicles carry all the gear. All you need to carry is a small daypack to hold a water bottle, camera and sweater/jacket. Rolling down the River – White water rafting On Zanskar in the lost valley of Zanskar, on Indus in Ladakh, Beas, Sutlej, Spiti and Tons in Himachal Pradesh; to Ganga, Mandakini, Kaliganga, Saryu, Ramganga, Bhagirathi, Alaknanda in Uttaranchal, our river trips combine the best of camping and soft to extreme adventure. The rafts carry not just the passengers but all the gear including sleeping bags, pads, tents and personal baggage. A typical rafting day is much like hiking, on the river a couple of hours, a long leisurely lunch, more rafting in the afternoon and time for a little exploring after we pull up to the shore for the night. Most river trips have a layover day or two so we can explore the countryside beyond the river. Our Rafting adventures can be combined with the convenience of staying at one of our permanent camps in Himachal, Ladakh and Uttaranchal and exploring the area and the river, with the camp as the base.
